Young English Coma Victim Recovers

by

A young English boy was rendered comatose for several days after a playground concussion, but awoke to the great joy of his family, Manhattan Brain Injury Lawyers have learned.

The 11-year-old boy suffered from a blood clot after hitting his head on the frame of a swing in Darlington, England.

While he lay unconscious, his family truly did not know whether he would live or die, but soon after he woke, the doctors took him off the critical list and his recovery has been nothing short of remarkable.

The boy himself said, “I cannot remember what happened after the park at all. I can remember being on the swing, then waking up in the hospital.

“I felt really drowsy, I wanted to go to sleep. When I did shut my eyes, I didn’t wake up for a week – so I must have been tired.”

The boy’s parents, as well as other family members, were at his side in The James Cook County University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The boy was injured at the park but had been away from that area for two hours before being taken to the hospital. His aunt took him in for medical help when he began to complain of headaches and sickness. Hospitals in The Bronx and Manhattan are on alert for these emergencies.

“He seemed absolutely fine when he came back to my house,” the aunt told Manhattan Brain Injury Lawyers “My son… said they were back early because [my nephew] had hurt his head on a swing, but he was laughing and joking like he always is.”

No one could know the boy was bleeding on the brain after hitting his head on the metal frame of the swing. He was taken directly to the intensive care unit once he arrived at the hospital.

“They had to shave his head for the operation to remove the clot, which was half the size of his brain. He has had 77 staples and four stitches – he could have died,” the aunt added in her statement to Manhattan Brain Injury Lawyers.

Two teenage girls have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and public order offenses, likely in relation to this incident.
