Diagnosing a concussion or mild TBI (traumatic brain injury) can be difficult, even to experienced physicians, especially on the battlefield, New York Brain Injury Lawyers have been told. Yet, that does not diminish the importance of diagnosing such an injury as soon as possible so the appropriate medical care can be given as soon as possible. If it isn’t, the warfighter may be return to duty at impaired status and the condition could even worsen over time.

In the war theater, the primary caregivers are often medics, who are not as extensively trained as physicians. They may not be able to recognize such subtle injuries as the ones caused by mild TBI. Often there are no cuts or bruises with these injuries. In fact, the patient may not even know he or she has sustained an injury. Others may hide evidence of an injury to remain with their unit. Hospitals in The Bronx and Brooklyn are aware of these circumstances.

It is important that medics and other medical providers need to watch out for bTBI (explosive blast traumatic injury) after any soldier has been in close proximity to an explosion, New York Brain Injury Lawyers have discovered. The patient may even need to be referred to another strata of care, like a neurologist, neurosurgeon, or emergency medical physician.

New York Brain Injury Lawyers have learned of a new classification for traumatic brain injury (TBI), known as explosive blast traumatic brain injury (bTBI). Previously, physicians divided TBI into two categories, penetrating traumatic brain injury (pTBI) and closed head traumatic brain injury (cTBI). Blast TBI is similar, but has some aspects that are all its own.

Penetrative TBI involves the penetration of a foreign object through the bones of the skull and into the brain parenchyma. This physically disrupts neurons, glia, and fiber tracts, which is made worse by ischemia and hemorrhage. Victims of this type of injury in Hospitals in The Bronx and Brooklyn show signs of impaired consciousness and neurological difficulties associated with the parenchyma injured by the intrusion of the foreign object. An object penetrating at high velocity, like a bullet, will cause a great deal more damage, due to cavitation of brain tissue. There will be a breach in the skull where the object entered, and possibly another at the point of exit. pTBI is often easy to spot.

Closed head traumatic brain injury, New York City Brain Injury Lawyers have learned, is sometimes more difficult to spot. The brain moving inside the skull and deformation of the brain can cause injury to the brain parenchyma, blood vessels, and fiber tracts.

The way surgeons deal with shrapnel or bone fragments in the brain has changed since the days of Korea or Vietnam, doctors tell New York Brain Injury Lawyers. It was once the standard to remove every last fragment of bone or any other foreign body, so the brain would have a lower risk of infection and there would be less chance of developing post-traumatic epilepsy or skull fracture. Studies of Vietnam War patients in The Bronx and Brooklyn have shown that removal of all fragments is not actually necessary, though objects that cause gross contamination should still be removed.

Closure of the scalp and replacement of the dura are absolutely vital to prevent, or at least reduce the chance of, CSF leakage and meningitis. A soldier who seems to have good neurological status, with only small fragments in the brain may be able to be treated locally to prevent leakage. One with a more extensive injury will have to undergo a large decompressive creniectomy and removal of the fragments, NY Brain Injury Lawyers have learned.

Another source of head injury from an explosive blast can result from being bodily thrown by the explosion. The soldier’s head could strike some other object, causing tertiary blast injury. This can cause injuries in a number of places in the patient’s skull. There is also the risk of infection in cases such as these, often from bacteria that are drug-resistant. A number of dangerous injuries can result from such trauma. It can be very important to repair such injuries as facial fractures quickly.

A man from Pensacola, Florida, is accused of pushing his 4-month-old son. The violence caused the child to suffer a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Bond for the man was set at $150,000.

The 20-year-old father, of the 200 block of Marigold Drive, was charged with three separate counts of aggravated child abuse when he was arrested last week and placed in the Escambia County Jail where he still remains.

The child was brought to a hospital by someone close to him, but the exact details of that are not available at the present time. According to an NY Brain Injury Lawyer, the Sacred Heart Hospital contacted the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office when it was suspected that the child’s injuries were non-accidental.

A woman who claims to have suffered brain damage from a hospital procedure performed shortly after her honeymoon has gotten a settlement after her case was taken to the Irish High Court.

The 46-year-old victim from Loughlinstown, Ireland, was described as “bubbly and vivacious” before her injury. She was employed as receptionist then, but now her injury requires her to have care 24 hours a day.

It was the victim’s husband who brought the suit before the court, on behalf of his wife. The charges alleged the hospital system and the surgeon who performed the operation were negligent and acted in breach of duty at St. Michael’s Hospital, where the victim was treated.

The man punched the coach, who fell to the ground, hitting his head, and suffered a brain trauma that resulted in his death. Doctors in The Bronx and Nassau County deal with this injury all the time.

According to a New York Brain Injury Lawyer, the 51-year old thought that the High School Coach was having an affair with his wife and attacked him when he saw them walking outside of the restaurant on Friday afternoon. Police said that they have found no evidence of an affair. An off-duty bicycle accident has forced a Mason, Ohio police officer off the job, https://braininjury.1800nynylaw.com/ have learned. It has been a difficult time for all law enforcement officers in Warren County, where Mason is located.

The wife of the injured police sergeant explained that her husband suffered a fall from his bike and sustained a traumatic brain injury. He has been unable to speak since then and has been put on a ventilator to assist his breathing. Doctors have been unable to give the wife a prognosis, as of yet.

“He’s now opening his eyes and he’s moving around. All of his limbs are moving, so that’s a good sign,” she told New York Brain Injury Lawyers after a Peace Officer memorial service.

Severe closed head injuries are generally investigated by computed tomography (CT), which can give a visual representation of injuries that require surgery, New York Brain Injury Lawyershave learned. Medical professionals also monitor pressure inside the head and other details of the brain, so they know when to use artificial ventilation and other forms of therapy. A clinical examination plays in important role in the management of head injuries, especially severe head injuries.

The initial clinical evaluation is just as important here as it is in any other case. It is used in triage to assess the immediate need for care and as a baseline to see how far the patient has come in recovery. This initial evaluation also does a great deal to form the prognosis. The first neurological examination is often performed at the accident site or the emergency room, often by someone with no special experience or training in neurology. Thus, it is vital that paramedics, intensivists, and emergency physicians all know how to perform a neurological examination before other measures are enacted. These steps are followed closely by all hospitals in Brooklyn and The Bronx.

It isn’t necessary for everyone who might treat an unconscious patient to know everything about medical neurology, New York Brain Injury Lawyers have discovered. All that’s necessary is to learn a few basic neurological observations and making an accurate record of them. The care of a head injury patient should not be compartmentalized. The evaluation needs to be a continuous process, with the early findings always remaining important, no matter what the later outcome.
